Melissa Robinson – Worcester – Governance Administrator

3 years ago, I applied for a patient administrator position with Newmedica Worcester. I still remember being shown around the building and the welcoming atmosphere from the staff. When I got accepted, I was given the responsibility of files (before OpenEyes) which then led me to my current position as Governance Administrator. I am also currently in training for Governance Lead. Newmedica has been the first company that has provided me with progression. I came over to the UK 14 years ago and never had the chance to apply for Citizenship. Josh and the partners were willing to help me and 2025 became the year I completed my British Citizenship, something I will never forget and truly a life changing moment. Newmedica Worcester has changed my life and I’m happy to be here.

Fraser Carson – Gloucester – Performance & Admin manager

Working for Newmedica is the best career move I have made. Having worked here for 4 years now, I have always felt valued and empowered. It's rare to find a workplace where your ideas are heard, and your contributions truly make a difference. At Newmedica, collaboration isn’t just encouraged; it’s embedded in the culture. The leadership team is approachable, the environment is dynamic, and there’s a genuine commitment to patient care.

Caron Lewis – Gloucester – Hr Lead

I can hardly believe it myself, but I’ve now been with Newmedica for over ten years—and I still absolutely love what I do, the people I work with, and the company ethos.

When I first applied for the position of Clinic Assistant in Swindon, I was looking for a complete change. I spent over three years running the Swindon clinic and working in Tetbury Hospital on behalf of Newmedica, and I was lucky enough to be part of the setup for the first OJV in Bristol. Things really took off when the Gloucestershire OJV opened in 2017 at Aspen Medical Centre.

The decision was made to trial Service Administrators in the OJVs rather than centrally, to cover HR, governance, and facilities. Since I’d spent 13 years in HR in my previous role, I was asked if I’d consider taking it on - the rest is history!

I still love working at Gloucestershire Newmedica. as an HR Lead. I’m blessed to be supported by an amazing team and a HR support network.

It’s incredibly rewarding to support a team that delivers excellent, life-changing services every day.

Being part of a culture that values compassion, innovation, and collaboration means I get to help shape an environment where people thrive—both professionally and personally. And honestly, I wouldn’t have it any other way!

Nisha Naronha – Worcester – Ophthalmic Nurse

My name is Nisha, and I am Indian by nationality. I have been working at Newmedica for over a year now, and the experience has been truly heartwarming. When I first came to the UK, I was nervous about the accent, culture, and many other things. However, from the moment I started at Newmedica, I was welcomed with warmth and enthusiasm by my colleagues and the senior management team. They made me feel like a valued member of the family. During my time here, I have improved my language skills, developed professionally, and learned many new things. I truly enjoy working at Newmedica and want to thank everyone who has supported me on this journey.

Shannon Perry – Worcester – Scrub Technician

I started working at Newmedica Worcester October 2021 in as a Patient Administrator, shortly after I took an interest in the clinical aspect of the company resulting in training and becoming an Ophthalmic Assistant and since then have completed the in-house scrub technician programme becoming Newmedica Worcester's first Ophthalmic Scrub Technician! I have been incredibly lucky to have received the most incredible training and support to achieve something that 3 years ago I would never have even dreamt of doing. Thanks to Newmedica Worcester I have fallen into a career I love and have never looked back.

Holly Taha – Support Office – Head Of Clinical Quality And Patient Safety

Over the past four years at Newmedica, I’ve had the privilege of experiencing significant personal and professional growth as the National Theatre Lead.

Recently, my journey took an exciting turn with my promotion to Head of Clinical Quality and Patient Safety.

What I’ve enjoyed most is the people – our partners and teams across our OJVs are truly inspiring, and every day brings new opportunities to collaborate and make a difference.

Within the Support Office, I’m surrounded by incredibly diverse and experienced colleagues who are supportive, and generous in sharing their knowledge. I’m also very fortunate to have a line manager who genuinely cares, supports, and coaches me to be my best, which makes a huge difference. I’ve developed a much deeper understanding of the business and the wider healthcare landscape, which has shaped how I use my unique skills as a Clinician to support our shared goals.

One of the things I value most is the incredible support Newmedica has given me while studying for my MSc in Optometry and Ophthalmology at UCL – it’s a testament to how the organisation invests in its people and their growth.

Rachel Tunnicliffe – Gloucester – Lead Theatre Nurse

With over sixteen years of dedicated service at Newmedica, I bring extensive experience as an Ophthalmic-trained Theatre Nurse. My journey began with weekend bank shifts, travelling across the UK to support surgical teams in various hospitals. This dynamic start laid the foundation for a career marked by adaptability, teamwork, and clinical excellence.

In June 2018, I made the pivotal decision to leave my local NHS trust - a place I once thought would see me through to retirement - to fully embrace the opportunities at Newmedica. This transition not only deepened my clinical expertise but also allowed me to grow into leadership and management roles. I’ve developed skills in team coordination, service delivery, and mentoring, all within an environment that champions both patient care and staff development.

Newmedica is more than a workplace; I’m proud to be part of an organisation that empowers its staff, fosters learning, and continually raises the bar for ophthalmic care.

Sophie Dobson – Support Office – Contract Support Manager

Since joining Newmedica my career has been a journey of growth, learning, and opportunity. I began as a Team Leader at the Leicester Stoneygate clinic, where I found my passion for leading teams and supporting patient care.

I made the decision to leave my clinic-based role and explore new avenues within the Support Office. This led me to spend 18 months as a Contract Management Coordinator, where I gained invaluable experience in understanding and supporting contracts. I was then successfully promoted into the newly created position of Contract Support Manager.

I have been fortunate to work with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, attend various development and team/company days, and be part of the first cohort of the Aspire Management Course in 2022. The wide range of courses and learning resources available have been instrumental in my professional growth.

I am grateful for the opportunities, support, and encouragement I have received. Newmedica truly invests in its people, and I am proud to be part of such a forward-thinking and nurturing organisation.

Max Carty – Support Office – Learning & Development Operations and Insights Specialist

I began my career at Newmedica working across Recruitment and Learning & Development, gaining valuable insight into how we attract, develop, and support our colleagues. I was later seconded into Learning & Development full time to support the implementation of our Learner Experience Platform (LXP), before progressing into my current role as Learning & Development Operations and Insights Specialist.

In my current role, I support the management of compliance training and developmental learning across the business, contribute to the ongoing improvement of our LXP, and create automated dashboards and reporting solutions that provide clear, actionable insights to drive decision-making and continuous improvement. I work closely with clinics and stakeholders to ensure colleagues have access to the training they need, supporting both individual development and the delivery of safe, high-quality patient care.

Since joining Newmedica, I have been given excellent opportunities to grow professionally, take on new challenges, and further develop my skills in learning systems, data analysis, reporting, and process improvement. The support and encouragement I have received have played a key role in my career progression, and I am excited to continue building my expertise and contributing to future developments within Learning & Development and the wider business.

Lucy Capolongo – Worcester – Hr Administrator

Joining Newmedica was the perfect way for me to kickstart my career in HR — and it has delivered even more than I hoped. From day one, I was given meaningful opportunities to grow, supported through training & development programmes, and encouraged to challenge myself. My induction was smooth and well structured. Jenna, both as my Line Manager and HR Lead, has been amazing guiding me through each step, providing clear feedback, and being accessible for any questions. Corinne Dunne – Support Office – Referrals Team Leader

Hello, I'm Corinne. I lead the Referrals Team in the Newmedica Support Office. I've been with Newmedica for 12 years, providing me with a unique perspective on the company's evolution and growth since I joined in 2013. My journey began as a Clinic Assistant in our Nuneaton service, followed by a role as Clinic Co-ordinator for Newmedica's first Wet AMD service. A few years later, I transitioned into the referrals team, which was just a team of one back then! Today, I manage a team of 8 Referrals Administrators, and we handle over 2000 for all of our services monthly.

Newmedica is truly a great place to work. Throughout my time here, I've been given numerous opportunities for growth and development. I've completed the Aspire Development Programme and am currently participating in the Ascend Management Development Programme. The supportive environment and commitment to employee development at Newmedica have been instrumental in my professional journey, making it a rewarding place to build a career.

Danika Heath – Worcester – Ophthalmic Training Lead

Since joining Newmedica Worcester over 2 years ago my knowledge and confidence has grown immensely. I have a passion for ophthalmology and so does Newmedica which makes it, for me, the best place to work. I have gained new skills and value Newmedica’s passion for staff development. I feel lucky to be able to do such a rewarding job every day.

Eleanor Coopland – Support Office – Contract Management Coordinator

I joined Newmedica in 2023 as a Referrals Administrator and, 2 years later, I have recently progressed into a Contracts Management Co-Ordinator position. My time in the Referrals Team gave me a solid understanding of how Newmedica operates, and I was encouraged to explore further development opportunities. There are many training courses available to Newmedica employees, and I chose to complete the In-Service Trainer (IST) programme, with the aim of building confidence in public speaking and connecting with colleagues across the organisation that I wouldn’t normally have chance to meet. Stepping into my new role, I look forward to applying the skills I’ve developed, take on new responsibilities, and continue growing within this supportive environment.

Deb Jackson - Bradford - Lead Theatre Practicioner

After more than 30 years working as a theatre nurse, and completing a Master’s in Advanced Surgical Practice, I’ve always been passionate about doing things the right way. When I joined Newmedica, I wasn’t just taking on a new job. I was looking for a place where patient care truly mattered. There is a genuine sense of pride in what we do.

In my role as Theatre Lead, I focus on leading a team, where we work together to deliver safe, high-quality care, and I believe the best results come when everyone strives for clinical excellence. I truly believe our patient feedback inspires and motivates us to get better at what we do.

Completing the Aspire Leadership Programme was a great experience. It helped me grow as a leader and gave me more confidence and new ways to support the team.

Shakeel Hassan – Support Office – It Security Manager

I joined Newmedica in 2018, when our IT team was just two people supporting 140 users across six OJVs and 40 support office colleagues. Since then, the business has grown significantly, now operating in over 30 locations with more than 1,200 staff and devices. I’ve been fortunate to grow alongside it, continuously learning, adapting, and expanding my skillset.

With the support of great managers who’ve backed me every step of the way, I started as an IT Support Analyst and progressed into an IT Manager role. In that position, I led our helpdesk team, oversaw the setup of new OJVs, and worked closely with governance and contracts to ensure our security standards were robust and aligned with NHS expectations, especially around patient data protection.

To strengthen my leadership capabilities, I completed the Aspire Management course provided by our Learning & Development team, which gave me the tools and confidence to lead effectively and support others in their growth.

That experience naturally led me to my current role as IT Security Manager, where I now focus exclusively on safeguarding our systems and data. What I value most is the trust and autonomy I’ve been given to grow, solve problems creatively, and collaborate with brilliant colleagues across departments.

It’s incredibly rewarding to know that my work helps protect the integrity of our services and the privacy of our patients. But above all, it’s the people at Newmedica, their dedication, teamwork, and genuine support for one another that make this truly special place to work.

Krushil Shah – Support Office – Senior Finance Business Partner

I transferred to Newmedica after spending 7 years at Specsavers, and it's been phenomenal since day one. Working alongside some brilliant colleagues, each day is exciting, different, and fulfilling as the business grows and evolves.

Kris Moorhead Coppin – Support Office – Deputy Clinical Safety Engineer

My journey at Newmedica has been a remarkable experience of continuous growth and development. I started as an Ophthalmic Assistant within the Newcastle Service, before progressing to the role of Stock Management & Governance Lead.

Following this, I joined the Support Office team as a System Implementation Coordinator. Currently, I serve as the Deputy Clinical Safety Engineer, where I oversee critical safety compliance and risk reviews in our ePR systems.

Throughout my career at Newmedica, the company's supportive and collaborative culture has been integral in fostering both my professional and personal growth. This environment has empowered me to take on meaningful responsibilities and make a significant impact in our field.
